Peggy Owen passed away at her home on May 29, 2022. She was born on September 1, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to Dorothy Johnston and Everett Barbur. As a child Peggy grew up in Cottage Grove before moving to Seattle in her early 20’s and finally settling in Arizona, which she dearly embraced. It was in Arizona where she met and married her husband, Dr. Steven Owen. Together they raised her son Troy and daughter Tara. She had a professional career in Civil Engineering with Boyle Engineering, HDR Engineering and Brown and Caldwell before she started her own firm, Superstition Foothills Consulting Services. Her passions were rescuing horses and making custom jewelry with precious stones. Her favorite place was on the ranch with her husband, surrounded by their dogs and horses. Peggy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dr. Steven Owen of Apache Junction, AZ; her son Troy Tobiasson and his wife Margo of Litchfield Park, AZ; and her daughter Tara Jones of Marina Del Rey, CA. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Mike Rola of Mesa, AZ and beloved extended family and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richie, Chuck, Rodney and sisters Beverly and Deb. A private Celebration of Life will be held for Peggy on Sunday September 4, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy’s honor to Shriner’s Hospital, Pinal County Animal Control and Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue.
