Thomas Lee Laverty, age 79, handed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Near Dwelling Assisted Residing – South Union. The son of the late Thomas Russell and Lillian (Haney) Laverty, he was born on January 19, 1943 in Monroe. He moved to Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill Excessive College. Tom was a locomotive engineer and labored for Huron & Jap Railway and CSX Railroad, retiring in 2005. Over time Tom grew to become an knowledgeable on diamonds and gems and took programs by way of the Gemological Institute of America. He was additionally an avid music fan and loved karaoke.
Tom is survived by his two sons, Carlos (Natalie) Laverty and Tomas (Analena) Laverty; grandchildren, Sarah Laverty, Brennan Simon, Leanna Lykins, Jayna Lykins, Tomas Laverty, Francisco Laverty, Hope Dietzel, and Future Dietzel; two brothers, William (Donna) Laverty and Robert (Gloria Johnson) Laverty; a sister, Betty Lou (Timothy) Hickey; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime pal, Mark Shreve. Along with his mother and father, Tom was additionally preceded in demise by the love of his life, Karen Dietzel; and two sisters, Barbara Laverty and Lilian Toomey.
