Police are stepping up patrols in Hawick following a spate of hoax 999 calls from a cellphone field within the city’s Kenilworth Highway over the previous few months.

Officers from the Scottish Borders Neighborhood Motion Workforce are warning these accountable they’re placing lives in danger.

It comes simply days after the group council in Burnfoot heard residents in neighbouring Fairhurst Drive had been stricken by yobs throwing eggs and stones at their houses.

Police Sergeant Dale Hadden mentioned: “Hoax calls value lives. Each false or inappropriate name takes up treasured time of the emergency companies and prevents somebody who wants rapid assist from getting it.
