Assorted gem stones totaling 1,746 items value Rs 94.34 lakh have been seized on the airport right here and a Sri Lankan nationwide was arrested on this connection, the customs division stated on Saturday.

Performing on particular inputs, the authorities intercepted the passenger who arrived right here from Colombo just lately, a press launch from Commissioner of Customs Ok R Uday Bhaskar stated. 

Preliminary examinations revealed that the passenger had swallowed packets containing the valuable stones. The officers recovered as many as 56 packets containing 1,746 assorted gem stones from him beneath related sections of the Customs Act, 1962. 

Additional investigation was on, the discharge stated.
