French actress Clotilde Courau married Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, the highest-profile member of Italy’s former royal household, in September 2003.

Prince Emanuele is preventing the Italian authorities, demanding the return of the royal household’s crown jewels, a group of items value an estimated $600 million.

The jewels, which embody tiaras, earrings, necklaces and brooches, have been locked inside a financial institution vault in Rome for 75 years.

The monarchy was abolished in 1946 when Italy was declared a republic following the tip of World Conflict II.

However one piece the household managed to maintain was this pink tourmaline parure (or ‘set’).

Clotilde wore the tiara and earrings for her wedding ceremony.
