Scientists have been warning us about local weather change for years, but their phrases have largely fallen on deaf ears. However now, peeking out of the Elbe River in Czechoslovakia, is a chilling warning that’s unimaginable to disregard.

“When you see me, then weep,” reads the grim inscription in German chiselled into a chunk of stone on the river financial institution close to the northern city of Decín.
