The Mumbai police have arrested 4 individuals for allegedly duping a Myanmar-based diamond service provider of rubies price Rs 5 crore, an official stated on Wednesday.
The police cracked the case inside 12 hours after it was registered at D B Marg Police Station in south Mumbai and recovered the dear stones, a senior police official stated.
Ye Min M H Ali Mohammed Dadabhai (58) had travelled to Mumbai for enterprise when he met Uday Choksy, who launched himself as a diamond service provider, he stated.
The accused was conscious that Dadabhai had two invaluable rubies price Rs 5 crore, and he conspired together with his aides and confirmed curiosity in exchanging the dear stones with diamonds of the identical worth, the official stated.
Choksy referred to as Dadabhai to a store in Opera Home, the place he engaged the service provider in finding out the diamonds, whereas his aides allegedly exchanged the 2 rubies with pretend stones, he stated.
The sufferer realised that stones have been modified on Tuesday, following which he lodged a grievance with the police, the official stated.
With the assistance of technical inputs, the police arrested Choksy, Surajbhai Borad, Khetram Devasi and Vinkal Shah, who has been booked below part 420 (dishonest) and different related provisions of the IPC, he stated. The accused had been history-sheeters and had been concerned in comparable offences up to now, the official added.
