To mark the 30th anniversary of its home in Temple Bar, the IFI is hosting a day of free films and activities on Saturday, September 10. Open to all ages, the programme will give film fans a taster of what’s in store at the cultural institution, and a chance to tour its behind-the-scenes activities. The free screenings include Jean-Luc Godard’s The Image Book, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and Frank Borzage’s 7th Heaven, while tours include a look around the projection booth. Tickets will be distributed in the IFI foyer one hour before each screening, while places on tours can be reserved by emailing [email protected]. ifi.ie

Rosé on the Terrace at Café du Parc in Killarney

If summer is a state of mind, then rosé is the drink of choice. And while Rosé on the Terrace at Café du Parc in Killarney was perfect for whiling away a sunny afternoon during the summer months, you can still enjoy the tasting experience. Available seven days a week, the offer allows you to sample a flight of four different 100ml glasses of rosé, displayed on a beautiful wooden board. You’ll get to try cult favourites like Whispering Angel and Domaine de l’ile rosé, the new wine from Chanel, and if the sun is shining, there are two frosé (frozen rosé) options that can be added for an extra €10. Prices start at €25pps, and there’s an all-day bistro menu if you want to make a day of it. cafeduparckillarney.ie

The sumptuous Whistles x Hai collaboration was an almost instant sell-out when it launched back in May. But all is not lost for fashion fans who missed out the first time round, as the limited-edition collection is now back by popular demand. Featuring 13 pieces made from 100pc silk, the dreamy edit (from €29) includes slip dresses, ballerina pumps, drawstring bags and scrunchies that can be worn together for a dramatic holiday look, or separately if you want to add a pop of colour to an autumn outfit. Layer the classic slip dress (available in hot pink and lime green) over a turtleneck and tights, or just pack it away in anticipation of summer 2023. whistles.com

Megan Williams of Saltwater Design loved making beaded creations when she was a child, but it wasn’t until last year that she started her own jewellery business. With a keen eye for colour, shape and texture, she now handcrafts elegant pieces made from vintage chains, glass beads, semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls at her kitchen table in Co Cork. Her earrings are mix-and-match, with charms designed to be added to two different hoop sizes, while her necklaces look chic when layered together. Prices start from €11.90, yet every piece from this thoughtful brand looks more expensive than it actually is. saltwaterdesign.ie

Beautifully scented and infused with nourishing botanical ingredients, Nunaïa’s Superfood Cleansing Balm makes washing your face feel like a mini spa treatment. The 100ml jar (€56) lasts forever but, now, for those who like to travel light, they also have a Ground Mini Ritual Set (€28), which includes a dinky 15ml Superfood Cleansing Balm, Nourishing Radiance Serum (5ml) and a super-soft Facial Cleansing Oval. It’s a 14-day supply, so ideal for a holiday. And while it’s much too soon to use the C-word, it makes the perfect stocking filler for you know what. nunaia.com

We’d all like to be handier around the house, but the team at Common Knowledge take it to a whole new level. On a mission to empower people with the skills and resources for a more sustainable life, their popular courses include bricklaying, welding and even tiny house building. Their next Build School Level 1 course (€750) takes place in Co Clare from September 26-30 and will teach participants how to renovate a stone cottage. The skills learned are applicable to any derelict structure. ourcommonknowledge.org

Matching beer and food takes a little bit of know-how, so why not let the experts serve up some inspiration? To celebrate Estrella Galicia Gastronomy Month, the Spanish brand has teamed up with Urban Brewing in Dublin 1 to host a special tasting menu (€63.30) on September 15. Head chef Dan Keane will pair different flavours from his travels across Spain with local produce, and each course will be matched with Estrella Galicia beers. Expect dishes such as salt cod croquette with chorizo emulsion and urban ‘hot dog’ with caramelised shallot — and make sure to leave room for dessert.  estrellagaliciabeer.co.uk
