The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is cited by many as one of the best games of all time, and for good reason. There’s a great deal to do in the game, including dozens of side quests that allow the player to delve deeper into the lore.

While not all standouts, it’s the variety of the side quests that adds so much to Breath of the Wild. Some offer epic rewards, while others provide intriguing stories. Whether it’s photographing the bones of a large beast or building an entire town, certain side quests deepen the player’s experience more than others.

10 Riddles Of Hyrule Is The Ultimate Trial

A Korok standing on top of the Deku Tree named Walton has a series of riddles for Link to solve, which he claims is the “ultimate trial.” The riddles range from simple to challenging. “Small, red, round, sweet” requires Link to bring Walton an apple. “Kakariko’s specialty fruit” is a Fortified Pumpkin, and a “Sultry shroom that will warm your bones” is a Sunshroom.

“Scales and tail that will zap you” refer to a Voltfin Trout, and “Starts with an H and ends with an oof” requires Link to take down a Lynel for its hoof. The reward for completing all the riddles is a Diamond, but the interaction with Walton is worth its weight in gold.

9 Misko, The Great Bandit Hides A Lot Of Loot

The sheer amount of loot that can be acquired from “Misko, The Great Bandit” makes it one of the best side quests. Players can find treasure hunters Prissen and Domidak at the Duelling Peak Stables. In exchange for 1,000 rupees, they’ll let Link know of the supposed whereabouts of the great bandit Misko’s treasure in riddle form.

They tell Link, “The little twin steps over the little river. My cave rests above that river’s source.” If players climb up the waterfall near Hickaly Woods and bomb the rocks at the top, they’ll find a cave filled with loot, including precious stones, Toasted Hearty Truffles, a Flameblade, and much more.

8 The Royal Guard’s Gear Can Be Sold For A Princely Sum

Parcy has never seen any Royal Guard Weapons, so she enlists Link to help her find some in Hyrule Castle. There are five different weapons in the set to find: claymore, spear, bow, sword, and shield, and there’s more than one of each.

Some weapons are wielded by monsters, while others can be found on their own, so even a low-level Link can sneak around and grab some of them. Parcy will give 300 rupees for each, so this side quest is a good earner. Apart from that, it provides an incentive to explore Hyrule Castle’s many rooms.

7 Special Delivery Is A Touching Story Of True Love

Finley, a young Zora, has a love letter she wants to post. However, she must send it down a river because she promised her mother she wouldn’t venture too far. Finley entrusts Link with finding the person who picks up the letter. He must follow the letter container downstream, destroying obstacles and enemies along the way.

Eventually, the container will arrive at Mercay Island, where a traveling merchant named Sasan receives the letter. Sasan feels bad for lying about his appearance to Finley, but Link inspires him to travel to Zora’s Domain and meet her. Upon traveling back to Zora’s Domain, Link can find Finley and Sasan together. They thank Link for introducing each other to their soulmate by giving him a Gold Rupee.

6 Hylian Homeowner Gives Link A Place Of His Own

Link meets the flamboyant Bolsen in Hateno Village. He and his construction crew are about to demolish the house, but for the price of 3,000 rupees and 30 bundles of wood, Link can purchase it. Once Link has gathered enough wood and rupees and buys the house, he can use it to sleep and restore his health for free.

There are also plenty of customization options, including weapon mounts, bed, lighting, and door installations, and a sign with Link’s name. Aside from the practical benefits, it’s nice for Link to have a place he can call his own.

5 The Royal White Stallion Is A Horse Fit For A Princess

Speak to Toffa at Outskirt Stable and she’ll tell Link about a white horse that can be seen around Safula Hill. Witnessing the fabled Royal White Stallion roaming around in the wild for the first time is a sight to behold. Link needs to sneak up on the horse and mount it, then soothe it until it stops trying to throw him off.

Players will need quite a bit of stamina for this side quest, as it can take a while for the stallion to calm down. After taking it to Toffa, she will tell Links the horse is a descendant of the one that belonged to Princess Zelda. She’ll also give Link a Royal Saddle and Royal Bridle.

4 The Thunder Helm Provides Loads Of Riches

The Thunder Helm protects Link from lightning. This very useful item means Link doesn’t have to remove metal weapons whenever there’s a storm. To acquire the Thunder Helm, he’ll need to complete all the side quests in Gerudo Town.

The townspeople have all kinds of problems for Link to solve, including fetching some Molduga Guts for someone who’s fallen ill, finding out who’s polluting the water, and helping someone open a jewelry shop. Each side quest provides either a reward or access to new items, making them lucrative endeavors.

3 The Korok Trials Make For A Meaty Challenge

The Korok Trials comprise three Shrine Quests. The first, Trial of Second Light, involves Link trying to find his way through the mist-shrouded forest using metallic rocks in the mouths of trees as a guide, while also being attacked by monsters. The second trial, The Lost Pilgrimage, requires Link to follow a Korok named Oaki without being seen.

For the third trial, The Test of Wood, Link must use Korok weapons to fight his way through the forest without breaking any of them. This requires careful rationing of actions and puts a premium on headshots with the Forest Dweller’s Bow. Altogether it’s one of the longer and more challenging side quests, it remains one of the most interesting an unique.

2 Leviathan Bones Sends Link On A Journey Of Discovery

Leviathan Bones is a quest that takes Link to three different corners of Hyrule and has him take on the role of photographer. Speak to the brothers Akrah, Onya, and Garshon at Serenne Stable and they’ll assign Link the task of taking pictures of three Leviathan skeletons.

The Leviathan skeletons can be found in the Gerudo and Hebra regions and the Eldin Mountains. ​​​​​​The quest motivates the player to explore, and there’s a feeling of satisfaction and awe upon finding the huge, impressive-looking skeletons. The reward for showing the brothers the photos is a Gold Rupee.

1 From The Ground Up Is A Long But Satisfying Journey

The longest side quest in the game involves gathering several different items and resources to build an entire town. After purchasing the house from the Hylian Homeowner quest, Bolson will send one of his co-workers, Hudson, off to Akkala to clear some land.

From there it’s a case of venturing far and wide to find the people and resources Hudson needs to develop what will eventually become Tarrey Town. There’s a great sense of pride to be felt once the town is finished, and the player can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
