Maharaja Bhupinder Singh gifted this striking necklace to his wife Maharani Sri Bakhtawar Kaur Sahiba.

Designed by a famous jewellery brand, Cartier Paris in the year 1931, the choker necklace set in ruby red has been one of the most phenomenal choker sets to be ever made in platinum. 

Rubies, diamonds and pearls were all used to make a single set of the choker necklace. 

Only the upper portion of the necklace consists of six layers of rubies as well as diamonds and pearls on the sides. The centre portion of the necklace is studded with rubies and pearls while the lowermost portion of the necklace is considered the heaviest of all with a range of pearls and diamonds.

Star Of The South Diamond Necklace By Maharani Sita Devi Of Baroda

The jewellery set consisting of the 128-carat Star of the South diamond added to this exquisite 3-tiered diamond necklace which also had a 78.5 carat English Dresden diamond in it. Mulhar Rao, the Gaekwar of Baroda, had bought the Star of the South for £80,000, nearly 20 million INR.

It was in the possession of Maharani Sita Devi of Baroda initially. Rustomjee Jamsetjee of Mumbai bought the diamond and sold it to Cartier later in 2002.

Patiala Necklace By Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala

This royal necklace consisted of a total of 2,930 diamonds. It had the world’s 7th largest diamond (World’s 5th Largest Diamond), a 234-carat yellow ‘De Beers’ as the centrepiece. This stunning piece was created by Cartier Paris in 1928 for Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. This piece of jewellery contained diamonds, topazes, synthetic rubies, citrine, platinum, zirconia, smoky quartz and Burmese rubies.

Diamond Dastar By Maharaja Shrimant Sir Ranjit Singhji Sahib Bahadur Of Ratlam

Looking at this wedding photograph of the grandson of Sayajirao III Gaekwad of Baroda, you can tell he is covered in an extraordinary turban surrounded by a mesh of intricate sarpattis made out of diamonds, pearls and some other precious gemstones.
