Los Angeles—The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California has announced its 2022 honorees.

 

Founder of Omi Gems Omi Nagpal will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. 

 

After obtaining an engineering degree, Nagpal and his wife Preeti began working in the gemstone business in 1978, founding what would eventually become Omi Gems and jewelry line Omi Privé in West Covina, California. 
 

Heavily involved in the American Gem Trade Association, Nagpal was director from 1997 to 2003, and vice president from 2005 to 2008. He’s also a longtime member of International Colored Gemstone Association and American Gem Society.

 

Susan Jacques, Gemological Institute of America president and CEO, will receive the Excellence in Service award. 

 

Jacques has served on the boards of Jewelers of America, Jewelers for Children, and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Jewelers of America Ethical Initiatives committee and the Jewelers Vigilance Committee board.

 

She has also been honorary chair of the Friends of the Diamond Development Initiative and a trustee of the Ethical Alliance.

Tanya Parikh, owner and founder of Janvier in Los Angeles, will receive the Rising Star Award. 

 

Parikh is the fifth generation in her family to work in the jewelry business. After working for her family’s diamond and jewelry wholesale company she launched Janvier in 2019. 

 

Parikh has a graduate gemology degree from GIA and a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. 

 

She sits on the Women’s Jewelry Association’s national board and was the previous president of the Los Angeles chapter.

 

Honorees will be recognized at the 24 Karat Club’s 78th Annual Dinner Dance and Gala on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Tickets may be purchased online.

 

“After a two-year hiatus, we are very excited for the return of the 24 Karat Club’s iconic Dinner Dance, and this year’s slate of honorees are truly deserving people,” said Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California President Adam Graham.
